Physical therapy is a holistic approach to the assessment and treatment of conditions of the musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments). During physical therapy, your physical therapist will work with you to help you prevent and manage movement disorders and improve your function, health, and well-being.
Physical therapists are trained to comprehensively assess the underlying causes of joint, muscle, and nerve disorders and to educate you about your condition. Your therapist will then use a selection of complementary treatment techniques to address the cause of your discomfort, relieve your pain, restore function, and prevent any further problems.
As manual therapists, the physical therapists at SSPT are uniquely trained to use a “hands-on” approach to the evaluation and treatment of soft tissue injuries and joint problems. During treatment, your physical therapist may use his or her hands to mobilize the joints of your spine and extremities, with the goal of restoring normal movement and function.
Your physical therapist at SSPT may use services and apply treatment techniques that include the following:
To achieve maximum results, your SSPT therapist will involve you in every step of your treatment to create a truly personalized and effective therapy regimen. Learn more about our individualized plans of care
“After sustaining an injury in combat in Iraq, I spent 18 months in rehabilitation and physical therapy elsewhere. In addition to my physical pain, I was also suffering from the emotional strain that a chronic injury invariably causes.
When I switched to Sports and Spinal Physical Therapy, my therapist stressed that I would be taking a very active part in my recovery. Over the next 9 months, I learned techniques to strengthen my core and retrain my body. None of these sessions were easy, but it was during this time that I made the most progress in my recovery. For these life lessons and my improved physical condition, I would like to thank the wonderful staff at SSPT.“
